Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himslef up for her.
These words are more profound than I can bear. By profound I mean it literally–deep. In loving my wife I feel like I have just put my feet in and even that is painful. I want to immerse myself in this Christ like love but my heart is stubborn and cold.
My stubborn and cold heart melted while listening to Storehouse by Sandra McCracken today. “when I give you all I have to give, I still have a storehouse full”. There is always more to give, even when you feel like you havenothing left When you are at your wits end, you are just beginning to learn to love somebody, says Sandra.
As Christ loved the church. As he gave up peace And comfort in heaven and on earth. As he let his heart be broken with sorrow. As he was patient and kind under disrespect and unbelief. As he lived not for himself but for his bride. Her good was his goal.
O God, I repent of my death bringing self love and desire to find life by giving mine away. Lord please give me the presence of mind, strength, perserverance, faith, and joy to live my life as one dying. Unless a grain of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains alone. But if it dies and goes into the ground, it bears much fruit. Thank you Jesus my King for the fruit you bore through your death!
