Free Housing/Paid Ministry Opportunity
An elderly Christian woman, a retired medical missionary who lives alone, needs a responsible and pleasant single person to be in her home at night. Ms. Iverson has no significant mental decline but is bedridden due to strokes affecting her legs and is on oxygen. The family pays for aides during the day, but night care is becoming too expensive. They would like for the person who moves in to be at the house for 10-12 hours each night (something like 9 pm to 9 am; times could be adjusted if necessary and arrangements can be made for some evenings to be “covered” by others).
You would have the upstairs rooms to yourself (including two partially furnished bedrooms), as well as the use of the kitchen, full bathroom, laundry room, and living rooms. Housing and utilities would be free, you would be paid $100-$150 per week, and your presence in the home would be a great blessing to the family. You would have minimal responsibilities; no nursing care would be involved. The house is over 200 years old (pre-revolutionary!), but is clean and comfortable with a modern kitchen, window A/C units, and dial-up internet service. It is located on several acres of beautiful wooded land near Lake Needwood, at the end of a 200-yard gravel driveway off Avery Road.
The family will want some personal references, preferably including one from a pastor.
